Getting started

How to Translate Recipe Card Blocks

Before starting to translate the plugin, we highly recommend you check all available options on the Settings page, as there are several options where you can change default titles and text across the plugin:

Some default titles can be changed in General > Content Titles:

Some text used for buttons can be edited on the Miscellaneous > Recipe Buttons tab:

To translate the rest of the words that are not available in the Settings, you can use a dedicated translation plugin like Loco Translate or TranslatePress.

Translating Recipe Card Blocks using Loco Translate

In this tutorial, we’ll explain how to translate the plugin using Loco Translate.

Once you have installed the plugin, go to the Loco Translate page in the admin area and select Recipe Card Blocks PRO in the list of plugins.

If the plugin already includes a translation for your language, but you want to make changes to it or complete it with missing words, we recommend that you copy or move the existing translation out of the plugin.

You can copy and move an existing translation by clicking the Copy link:

On the next step, you’ll be asked for the new location of the translation file:

You can choose the Custom or System location, as both are safe if you want to customize included translations. This will ensure your changes will not disappear when updating the plugin in the future.

To find your new copied translation, look in the Folder column to differentiate it from the translation file bundled with the plugin:

In short, “Author” means that you’re editing the translation file included in the plugin folder and your changes will be lost when updating the plugin, so we don’t recommend editing that translation.

Custom” means that you’re editing your own translations, which will override any translations included in the Author translations.

If you’re translating the plugin to a new language, click on the New Language link to start configuring the new language:

On the next step, you can select the language and the destination where the file with the translation will be saved on your website. Make sure to select Custom or System options:

Once you get to the page that displays a list with all the text you can translate, you can start translating the plugin here, and when you’re done, make sure to save your changes.

If you did everything right and your Site Language matches the new language in which you translated the plugin, then the Recipe Card block will appear translated in posts automatically.
