Our Recipe Analyzer provides nutritional information and ingredient data using external food databases and APIs. The goal is to help you make more informed food choices by estimating the nutritional composition of your recipes.
Nutrient Database
- Primary Source: Most ingredient and nutrition values are based on the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) National Nutrient Database.
- Supplemental Data: For ingredients not covered by USDA, additional values are obtained through reputable nutrition references and manual research.
- Daily Values: Recommended daily intake values are based on Dietary Reference Intakes (DRIs) published by the Institute of Medicine of the U.S. National Academy of Sciences. These are intended for the general healthy population and used as reference standards.
Accuracy and Limitations
- Estimates Only: All nutrition values should be considered estimates. Actual values can vary depending on the specific product brand, ingredient quality, preparation method, and portion sizes.
- Automatic Calculations: Some results are generated through automated matching and may not always reflect exact ingredients. In such cases, manual adjustments or ingredient substitutions may be necessary.
- Troubleshooting: If an ingredient or measurement is not recognized, you may need to adjust it manually (e.g. by editing the ingredient name, selecting an alternative option, or converting measurements).
