Getting started

Inserting Recipes Using Shortcodes

Recipes created with Recipe Card Blocks can be inserted anywhere on your website using shortcodes. This allows you to reuse the same recipe across multiple pages, posts, or page buildersโ€”without duplicating content.

Shortcodes work in any editor or page builder, including the Classic Editor and third-party builders that do not support blocks or widgets.

How to Copy a Recipe Shortcode

To copy the shortcode of an existing recipe:

1. Go to Recipe Cards โ†’ All Recipes.

2. Locate the recipe you want to reuse.

3. Copy the shortcode associated with that recipe.

You can now paste this shortcode anywhere shortcodes are supported.

You can also copy the shortcode from the recipe editor.

How to Insert a Recipe Using A Shortcode

Shortcodes can be inserted in almost any editor or builder.

    Simply paste the shortcode into:

    • a text area,
    • a shortcode block or widget,
    • or a custom HTML field.

The recipe card will be rendered automatically on the front end.

For example, in the block editor:

    1. Open a new post or page.

    2. Add the shortcode block.

    3. Paste the recipe shortcode in the shortcode block field.

When using Elementor, you can insert a recipe shortcode using a Shortcode or Text Editor widget.

    1. Open the page with Elementor.

    2. Add a Shortcode or Text Editor widget.

    3. Paste the recipe shortcode into the widget.

    4. Save or update the page.

The recipe card will appear in the layout.
